自幼习书,四十余年不辍。先后临习过魏碑、汉隶、二王、米芾、欧、颜等碑帖。特别是对颜楷和颜《祭侄文稿》和陆机《平复贴》曾作过潜心研究。
He has been studying since he was a child for more than 40 years. He has successively studied the inscriptions of Wei stele, Han Li, er Wang, Mi Fu, ou, Yan and so on. In particular, he has made painstaking research on Yan Kai and Yan's manuscript for nephew sacrifice and Lu Ji's Pingfu paste.

《人民日报》、《解放军报》、《北京晚报》等数十家报刊曾多次发表其书法作品。

出生于陕西延安的孟世强,8岁时就随父亲学习书法。也许是天性使然,也许是他格外用心,幼小的孟世强已经显示出了他的书法天赋,他写的大字常常受到父亲及上学后语文老师的夸奖,10岁出头便在十里八村小有名气。少年时的书法爱好者,如今已经成为了知名的军旅书法家。
Meng Shiqiang, born in Yan'an, Shaanxi Province, learned calligraphy with his father at the age of 8. Maybe it's his nature, maybe he's extra attentive. The young Meng Shiqiang has shown his calligraphy talent. His big characters are often praised by his father and his Chinese teacher after school. He became famous in shiliba village in his early 10's. As a young calligraphy lover, he has now become a well-known military calligrapher.

身的理解。在这些挤满表现形式的语境里,孟世强先生坚守着自己的某些“一己净艺”的悲悯情怀。他并不在意自己的这种行为会求得多么伟大的效果,依然在坚守着自己的人格,做自己的事情正如孟世强本人所言:“我即是书,书即是我。我在用书法艺术表达我自己,永远都是真实和自然的。”

古人说 :“书法以用笔为先。”丰富的人生阅历,扎实的创造功底,出色的艺术才能,铸就了孟世强吃苦耐劳、执著不懈、韧劲十足的精神本质。把这些经历融入书法艺术中,孟世强可谓用心良苦,孜孜以求。在繁忙的工作之余,他发扬“挤”的精神,一年四季中每天都不肯懈怠。有时候写起字来就忘记了时间,通宵达旦是常事儿。即使去开会、下部队也常常带着碑帖,以便在空暇时间去研究,默写心划。孟世强不是对原碑的刻意模仿和简单复制,而是融入了自己的理解,他一笔一笔地反复琢磨,如何起落,如何转变,怎样点撇,像李可染大师所说的那样,用最大的功力打进去,用最大的勇气打出来。随着时间的推移,孟世强对书法的摸索与感悟日渐成熟。他重视临摹古人,又重视吸收今人,在丰富、博大的古今书法艺术中寻找自己的坐标点。必须看到,孟世强对秦篆、汉隶、魏碑等传统书法艺术经典的临习中,不是线性的运动,而是交差互动地进行,这种交差互动使孟世强的书法有了丰富与广博。同时,孟世强在对碑帖临习的取舍上,不是平分秋色,而是根据自己的秉性和天赋,有重有轻,有多有少,时间上也有长有短,从而为形成自己的个性获得了蓄势待发的张力。
The ancients said, "calligraphy comes first with pen." Meng Shiqiang's rich life experience, solid creative skills and excellent artistic talents have created his spiritual essence of hard-working, perseverance and tenacity. Meng Shiqiang has made painstaking efforts to integrate these experiences into the art of calligraphy. After busy work, he carried forward the spirit of "crowding" and refused to slack off every day throughout the year. Sometimes I forget the time when I write. It's common to stay up all night. Even when they go to meetings and work in the army, they often bring inscriptions with them, so that they can study and write heart strokes in their spare time. Meng Shiqiang did not deliberately imitate and simply copy the original monument, but integrated his own understanding. He pondered over and over again, how to rise and fall, how to change, and how to skim, as Master Li Keran said, with the greatest skill and courage. With the passage of time, Meng Shiqiang's exploration and understanding of calligraphy have become more and more mature. He attached importance to copying the ancients and absorbing the modern people, and found his own coordinate point in the rich and broad ancient and modern calligraphy art. It must be noted that Meng Shiqiang's temporary study of Qin Zhuan, Han Li, Wei stele and other traditional calligraphy classics is not a linear movement, but an interactive process. This interaction makes Meng Shiqiang's calligraphy rich and broad. At the same time, Meng Shiqiang did not share equally in the choice of temporary practice of Steles, but according to his temperament and talent, there are heavy and light, how much and how little, and how long and short in time, so as to obtain the tension ready to develop for the formation of his own personality.

从他的行草书作品中看到,他对线条的驾驭是非常得心应手的。他书法线条的流动具有奔驰纵横的气势,将刚与柔、方与圆、枯与湿、虚与实竭尽变化地交织在一起,缭绕牵丝,游刃有余,显示出他对线条的领悟和把握。他钟情于右任的标准草书,并将怀素、黄庭坚、徐渭、王铎等人的草书互为吸收,找到了符合自己审美的、符合自己所追求的线条。他的行草书结体强化了造型功能,使中宫紧密而四面舒展,让字势在规矩中驰骋,奔放而不失法度。因而,他的行草书没有扭曲变形、搔首弄姿,而是恣性地凸现和自然地发挥。
From his cursive works, we can see that his control of lines is very handy. The flow of his calligraphy lines has the momentum of galloping vertically and horizontally, interweaving rigid and soft, square and round, dry and wet, virtual and real with all changes, winding and pulling the silk, with ease, showing his understanding and grasp of the lines. He fell in love with the standard cursive script of Youren, and absorbed the cursive scripts of Huai Su, Huang Tingjian, Xu Wei and Wang Duo, and found the lines that were in line with his own aesthetics and pursuit. The structure of his cursive script strengthens the modeling function, makes the middle palace close and stretched on all sides, and makes the character potential gallop in the rules, bold and unrestrained without losing the law. Therefore, his cursive script did not distort, deform and flirt, but showed wantonly and naturally.

书法说到底是书法家生命本体的对象化,孟世强的秉性学识、功底和才气,使他师古不泥古,出新不出格,创造不离谱。孟世强毕竟是生活在不同于“二王”也不同于米欧的现代生活情境里,他的人生和书艺必然与现代生活息息相关水乳交融。这种水乳交融集中地表现在孟世强先生对现实社会生活的人文关怀上。

孟世强还热心与支持社会公益事业。他义卖书画,捐献支援灾区。2008年1月9日,正在国防大学深造的孟世强又将自己用课余时间用左手精心创作的、以歌颂中国改革开放总设计师邓小平的丰功伟绩的80米行草长卷《春天的中国》捐献给北京伟人书画院。作品大气雄浑、隽永流畅,对一代伟人的崇敬之情溢于字里行间。据悉,这幅长卷是北京伟人书画院为纪念改革开放30周年的特邀作品,孟世强也是获得此项邀请的首位军队书法家。国防大学和北京伟人书画院在国防大学为孟世强先生举行了新闻发布会。

从严格意义上说,孟世强不是画家,他没有接受过系统而专门的美术教育。但他的画作风格独特,不同凡响。他的画,不同于专业画家甚至也不同于一般意义上的文人画。可以说,他的画是一种书家画,确切地说,是用笔写出来的而不是画出来的。他的画,线条沉实,有强烈的质感和力度;格调高古,有深厚的内涵和韵味,虽数量不多,但涉笔成趣,令人称羡。我想,这些都来自于他长期书法实践和深厚的艺术功力。
Strictly speaking, Meng Shiqiang is not a painter. He has not received systematic and special art education. But his paintings are unique and extraordinary. His paintings are different from professional painters and even from literati paintings in the general sense. It can be said that his painting is a calligrapher's painting. To be exact, it is written with a pen rather than drawn. His paintings have solid lines, strong texture and strength; The style is high and ancient, with profound connotation and charm. Although the number is small, it is interesting and admirable. I think these come from his long-term calligraphy practice and profound artistic skills.

书法,在简单的点、线、提、按、转、折、连、断中寓示着生命的律动,提笔挥写中沟通了几千年历史文明的长河,与前辈先贤进行着“此时无声胜有声”的默默对话与相互交流。这正是孟世强从小酷爱书法并与之结下不解之缘的真由。如今的他总是挤出时间,置身翰墨,对书法潜心研究,力求融会贯通,创新突破,从中领悟书法艺术的真谛和韵律,以此陶冶情操。评论家们常说:“字如其人,字品如人品”,孟世强深感认同。

40多年的辛苦,40多年的磨砺,40多年淡泊名利的书艺研修应该讲是寂寞的、也是清苦的,这需要平静心,这需要大勇气,这需要忍耐性,这些孟世强都做到了,并得到了艺术对他的善报,其作品多次在国内外书展中获奖,2006年当选青海省书法家协会主席,2007年当选中国书法家协会理事,中国书法家协会鉴定评估委员会委员。
